Reportase.one – Indonesian men’s doubles pair, Bagas Maulana / Muhammad Shohibul Fikri confirmed a ticket to the quarter-finals of the 2023 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC).
Playing in the fierce match of Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Indoor Hall, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thursday (27/4/2023), Bagas / Fikri won a ticket to the quarter-finals after defeating the Chinese men’s doubles, Liu Yu Chen / Ou Xuan Yi with a score of 21-23, 21-17, 22-20.
Bagas / Fikri actually won 18-14 in the first game. However, Liu / Ou could be followed by taking advantage of the mistakes of the Indonesian pair.
“Earlier, we were far superior in the first game 18-14 but we can be overtaken. If you say you have lost focus, it’s not just that at these points your opponent is safer to play than us, who made a lot of unforced errors,” said Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in a PBSI release, Thursday (27/4/2023).

The men’s doubles pair who won the 2022 All England immediately turned things around by winning two consecutive games.
“Thank God we were given the victory. We were confident with every shot we took and really focused on point by point. This shuttlecock is rarely used in practice or in matches but we can adjust it well, it’s nice for us,” said Bagas Maulana.
Fikri revealed that the coach instructed him to stay focused on the remaining games and forget about the results of the first game.
“After the results of the first game, our coach kept reminding us to focus again, which had let it pass. In the second game it was 0-0 again and thank God we were able to play well again, as well as in the third game,” said Fikri.
Furthermore, Bagas / Fikri will be challenged by Japanese men’s doubles Takuro Hoki / Yugo Kobayashi in the BAC 2023 quarter-finals tomorrow.
