Twitter Removes Blue Checks, Official Accounts Similar to Commoners

Jakarta, Reportase – Twitter started removing the blue tick on Thursday (20/4). This is one of the last remaining ‘legacy’ from the era before Elon Musk’s leadership.

This symbol was previously used to indicate a verified and trusted account that no longer exists, as quoted from Tech Crunch, Friday (21/4/2023)

The Twitter blue ticks, which are given out to journalists, celebrities and other public officials free of charge, are supposed to end April 1.

But on April 11, a few days after the old tick was supposed to disappear, Musk shifted the takedown date to April 20.

With the blue tick gone, Twitter will only have verification flags for paying users and businesses, as well as government entities and officials.

Now if the user sees the blue tick and clicks on it, the label will say “This account is verified because they subscribed to Twitter Blue and verified their phone number.”

Under Musk’s rule, Twitter hasn’t held back on its promise to remove old ticks from even the highest profile figures.
