Kendari (Reportase One) – The Kendari City Police (Polresta) together with the Bomb Disposal Team (Jibom) of the Mobile Brigade Unit of the Southeast Sulawesi (Southeast Sulawesi) Regional Police have destroyed objects suspected of being bombs that were found by construction workers at The Villas Housing Complex, in Lepo-lepo Village, Baruga District, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi, Tuesday (4/4).

Kendari Police Chief Kombes Pol Muhammad Eka Fathurrahman in Kendari on Tuesday said that when his party received the information, the Baruga Sector Police immediately secured the location of the discovery of the bomb which was allegedly a relic of the second world war at around 11.30 WITA.

“The object found was in the form of cluster bombs which are thought to have come from World War II aircraft, measuring 20 centimeters in diameter and 104 centimeters in length,” he said.

He added that at around 12.00 WITA the Jibom Team from the Mobile Brigade Unit of the Southeast Sulawesi Police immediately sterilized the location, then carried out cleaning and checking the condition of the bomb.

“Around 14.20 WITA, the bomb was evacuated using a patrol car and temporarily secured by the Baruga Police Headquarters, while waiting for the survey results of the destruction site,” he said.

After coordination, said Eka, it was agreed that the bomb would be destroyed immediately at the bomb disposal site in Homebase Lepo-lepo or in the border area of ​​Abeli ​​Dalam Village and Anggalo Melai Village, Kendari City.

“After surveying the location, the bomb was then taken to the destruction site and immediately destroyed at around 17.05 WITA. The destruction was carried out in a safe and controlled situation,” said Eka.

The discovery of a bomb that was allegedly a relic of the Second World War was first discovered by two construction workers named Aco (32) and Agung (32) who were digging the ground for the placement of the scraggly foundation of The Villas Housing building.

After being found, Aco and Agung then reported this to the building supervisor, then informed the local police.
