“I hope this relocation process can run smoothly with the remaining time considering this is a national concern,”
Manado (Reportase One) – The Regional Office of the North Sulawesi Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) together with the provincial Regional Finance and Assets Agency (BKAD) discussed additional land for the planned relocation of Class IIA Manado Penitentiary (Lapas), Tuesday.
The Head of the North Sulawesi Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ronald Lumbuun, said that he was grateful to the North Sulawesi BKAD for following up on the agency’s request regarding additional land for the Manado prison relocation plan.
“I hope the relocation process can run smoothly with the remaining time considering this is a national concern,” said Ronald.
Head of BKAD Assets of North Sulawesi Melky F Matiindas said he would conduct direct checks on the relocation area so that together they would measure and mark the land as a marker that the land would be undergoing restoration for the Manado prison relocation.
This relocation will be carried out in the ex. HGU of Pandu Village.
Relocation needs to be done because the location of the Manado prison in Tuminting is currently prone to flooding.
On Friday, January 27 2023, floods occurred in a number of areas in Manado City, and Manado Lapas was flooded.
The water, which rose as high as five meters, damaged several equipment and caused the inmates to be evacuated to the second floor of the detention cell.
Present at the discussion
Head of Administration Division John Batara and Head of Corrections Division I Putu Murdiana
Head of Manado Prison, Marulye Simbolon.
