SEA Games 2023: Chef de Mission Urges Athletes to Maintain Conditions When Celebrating Eid, JakartaChef de Mission Indonesian Contingent in SEA Games 2023, Lexindo Hakimappealed to all athletes to maintain conditions while celebrating Eid Al-Fitr 1444 Hijri according to the recommendations of the coaching team.

“We must pay attention to the athletes continuing to carry out training consistently in the holy month Ramadan. Ramadan has become a momentum for mental and physical forging of athletes. We also urge athletes to maintain their condition during Eid for the sake of peakperformance they will be awake until the SEA Games later,” said Lexy in a written statement in Jakarta, Thursday, April 20, 2023.

Most of the preparation of Indonesian athletes for the 2023 SEA Games which will roll out on May 5-17 in Cambodia coincides with Ramadan and Eid 2023. In fact, many athletes must be willing to observe fasting and Eid al-Fitr moments away from their families.

Everything was done for maximum results at the 32nd edition of the biggest sporting event in Southeast Asia. Moreover, the Indonesian contingent is targeted to maintain its previous achievements by placing third in the final medal standings.

Lexy also advised athletes to take advantage of the Eid momentum by asking for the blessing and prayers of their parents so they can excel in the SEA Games. “Prayer and enthusiasm from the family, in my opinion, will be a stimulus for success in the SEA Games in Cambodia later,” said Lexy.

“The accumulation of excellent physical and mental strength after Ramadan and Eid will ensure that we get maximum results at the SEA Games.”

On SEA Games 2023, Indonesia fielded 599 athletes from 31 sports. With this number, Indonesia is expected to win 60 gold medals to maintain its top three positions. The number of contingents this year has increased from the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam which were held last year which consisted of 499 athletes. At that time, Indonesia was ranked third with 69 gold, 91 silver and 81 bronze.
