Reportase.one – President Joko Widodo officially appointed Dito Ariotedjo as Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), on Monday 3/4/2023) at the State Palace, Jakarta. Dito immediately received orders from Jokowi.
One of the orders given by Jokowi to Menpora Dito is related to the 2023 SEA Games. The President asked Dito to prioritize sports that have the potential to win medals.
“Mr. President wants that on the SEA Games and Asian Games event agenda we prioritize sports that have medal potential. So we have to be efficient, but we get the best medal results,” Dito said in a statement to the media crew after the inauguration.
The statement from Menpora Dito was welcomed by the Chief de Mission of the Indonesian contingent at the 2023 SEA Games, Lexyndo Hakim.

He said the SEA Games CdM team would continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Youth and Sport so that they could immediately confirm the number of sports and athletes leaving for Cambodia.
“As President Jokowi’s orders to Menpora Dito, one of them is how at the SEA Games we prioritize sports that have medal potential,” said the figure who is familiarly called Lexy on the sidelines of a meeting with the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sport to determine the number of sports and athletes going to SEA Games 2023, Monday (3/4).
During the meeting, CdM Lexy who was accompanied by Vice CdM Puji Lestari and the Indonesian Olympic Committee Sport Development Commission represented by Calvin Legawa, Peter Taslim and Dildari again presented the results of the Review Team to be synchronized with the Kemenpora’s failed review.
The results of these discussions will make the final decision regarding the sports to be dispatched and the number of athletes along with achievement targets will be decided by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
“For that, I will continue to coordinate with Kemenpora, especially Deputy IV and the review team about what sports they will depart for, along with the achievement targets expected at the SEA Games later,” he continued.

Furthermore, Lexy added that his party would communicate intensely with Menpora Dito in the next few days so that the issue of the number of athletes and sports going to the 2023 SEA Games could be resolved as soon as possible.
“I will first communicate and coordinate with the Menpora in 1-2 days to finish this. Hopefully this week everything will be clear and the athletes can also be calm, and will also be more combat-ready because they have received the answers they have been waiting for all this time,” explained Lexy as quoted from the official statement of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI / NOC Indonesia).
