Malaysia's vehicle sales hit a record high in March 2023

Kuala Lumpur (Reportase One) – Malaysia’s vehicle sales increased 7.64 percent to reach a new all-time high of 78,849 units in March 2023.

The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), Monday (17/4), stated that the sales figure had increased from 73,250 units in 2022.

MAA stated that the growth was achieved thanks to the fulfillment of orders made during the sales discount period, fast delivery by the company whose financial year ended on March 31, 2023, as well as the Eid Al-Fitr promotion campaign.

Compared to total car sales in February this year, which were recorded at 63,510 units, sales volume in March was 24.15 percent higher.

According to MAA, new car sales in Malaysia for passenger and commercial vehicles rose to 70,958 units and 7,891 units respectively in March and from 65,903 units and 7,347 units a year earlier.

From January to March, new car sales increased 20.41 percent to 192,474 units from 159,846 units a year ago. MAA estimates sales in April will be much lower than March, due to the short working month due to the Idul Fitri holiday.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s car production in March rose 26.97 percent to reach 76,069 units from 59,908 units in 2022. Production in the January-March period grew 28.69 percent to 198,394 units from 154,160 units last year.
