Legally, Filianingsih Officially Becomes Deputy Governor of BI Boss

Reportase.one – Filianingsih Hendarta was officially appointed as the new deputy governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) today, Tuesday (18/4/2023). Prior to being sworn in, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia for Judicial Affairs, Sunarto, asked him to take the oath of office first.

“I promise that I will carry out the duties and obligations of the BI deputy governor as well as possible and with full responsibility,” said Filianingsih.

Filianingsih herself was appointed based on the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 21/p/2023, which was signed by President Joko Widodo on March 15, 2023.

The former Head of the BI Payment System Policy Department will replace the position of Dody Budi Waluyo, whose term of office ends in April 2023.

It is known that Filianingsih Hendarta succeeded in displacing another candidate, namely Dwi Pranoto, in the fit and proper test which was held on Monday, 13 February 2023.

In the fit and proper test, Filianingsih Hendarta explained his vision and mission, which is to create a national economy that is not only resilient but also progressive through accelerated digital economic and financial transformation that is effective and synergistic for Indonesia’s revival.

Then to realize the vision and mission, Filianingsih has three strategies. Among them are maintaining monetary stability, encouraging inclusive financing, and accelerating the transformation of the digital financial economy.

Profile of Filianingsih Hendarta

Filianingsih Hendarta was born in Surabaya, East Java in 1963. He has served at the Indonesian central bank for around 37 years, since 1986 to be precise.

Then, he also served as Head of the Monetary Management Department in 2013-2015 and Head of the Macroprudential Policy Department in 2015-2019.

Prior to being proposed as a candidate for Deputy Governor of BI by President Joko Widodo, Filianingsih served as Head of the Payment System Policy Department since 2019.

Filianingsih Hendarta is experienced in digital payment systems. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Law from Airlangga University in 1985 and earned a master’s degree in Economics and Finance from Boston University, United States of America in 1992.
