Reportase.one, Jakarta – The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) and the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) said that the video of a long traffic jam on the Jakarta to Central Java toll road during the 2023 Lebaran homecoming is a hoax or not true.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation Adita Irawati said that the video was an incident during the long holiday weekend in 2022, not Eid 2023. Meanwhile, the location is from the Puncak route to Jakarta, not the Jakarta toll road section to Central Java.
“Now the video is circulating again as if it were during this year’s Eid homecoming,” Adita said in a written statement on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
For this year’s homecoming, he said, Korlantas Polri has swiftly prepared all efforts to deal with traffic jams. “One of them is application contraflow with the addition of two lanes on the right side,” said Adita.
Director General of Information and Public Communication (IKP) Kominfo Usman Kansong confirmed Adita’s statement. According to Usman, the video is a hoax.
“Not true. The videos circulating are incidents during the 2022 school holidays, which were also distributed as if there were traffic jams during the 2022 Eid homecoming,” said Usman.
He continued, his party had denied that the video was a hoax as well. However, the video is back circulating. “The public must be aware of this kind of fake news,” he said.
Usman and Adita then appealed to the public to always be vigilant and not easily believe various information that intends to stir up the atmosphere, thereby disturbing the comfort of travelers.
