Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz Advance to the Semifinals of the 2023 Miami Open

Reportase.one – World number one Carlos Alcaraz and world number five Daniil Medvedev booked their places in the Miami Open semifinals over their American opponents at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, Florida, USA, Friday (31/3/2023) WIB.

Alcaraz beat ninth seed Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-2, while Medvedev ended qualifier Christopher Eubanks’ impressive run with a 6-3, 7-5 victory in their quarter-final.

Alcaraz only needed 78 minutes to get rid of Fritz. The Spaniard returned to dominate with a big serve and attacked the American from the start.

Alcaraz came out strong by breaking Fritz’s first game, and he did the same again early in the second set, winning the game.

The 19-year-old tennis player again broke Fritz’s serve to lead 5-2 and sealed victory without dropping a single point in the final game.

Next, Alcaraz will face Italian 10th seed Jannik Sinner for a bid for the Sunshine Double following his win over Medvedev in Indian Wells.

In the other quarter-final match, the 26-year-old Eubanks held two serves and looked confident against Medvedev.

However, a half-hour rain break interrupted Eubanks’ momentum, his first serve being broken after the restart to put Medvedev ahead 4-3.

Medvedev actually looked better after the break. She took the first set, but Eubanks didn’t give up the Russian.
