Reportase.one – Young national tennis player Carlos Alcaraz successfully won the 2023 Indian Wells Masters after defeating former world number one Daniil Medvedev.
The Spaniard ended the top match with a straight set win 6-3, 6-2.
The 19-year-old Alcaraz did not drop a set in six matches at Indian Wells. The title also restores its status as world ranking one.
He lost his status as world number 1 a month ago, after Novak Djokovic won his 10th career Australian Open title.
“This means a lot to me. To come back to No.1 in the world is crazy…amazing,” said Alcaraz after concluding the final match which took place relatively quickly in 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Now, the three-time ATP Masters 1000 champion is the ninth and youngest male tennis player to achieve the prestigious Shinsie Double status. Namely, winning at Indian Wells and Miami.
He now equals compatriot Rafael Nadal as the first male player to win three Masters titles before turning 20.
The three Masters titles are Indian Wells, Miami Open and Madrid Open.
