Frank Lampard’s career

He arrived as a youth player for West Ham United and after a loan spell at Swansea City, he established himself as a mainstay of the Hammers’ midfield from 1996 to 2001 under his uncle and manager Harry Redknapp.

With Chelsea, he is Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer, scoring 211 goals in all competitions for the club.

After 13 trophy-laden years with Chelsea, Lampard then left Chelsea in 2014 and signed a two-year contract with New York City FC before returning to England with Manchester City on loan.

While his international career was with the England National Team, he appeared in two World Cups, Euro 2004 and was selected as vice-captain for the 2014 World Cup. Until finally in 2017, Frank Lampard Jr. decided to hang up his shoes after 22 years of career with the round leather.

Frank Lampard’s Coaching Career

Even though he has retired, Lampard still cannot stay away from the world of football. Started his managerial career at Derby County in 2018. He guided them to the Championship playoff final in his first year.

Defeats to Everton, Wolves, Arsenal, Manchester City and Leicester City added to the pressure on Lampard until he was sacked and replaced by Germany coach Thomas Tuchel in January 2021.

Appointed as Everton manager in January 2022, succeeding Rafael Benitez who left the club 16th in the Premier League, four points above the relegation zone.

Helped Everton stay in the English Premier League with a 3-2 comeback win over Crystal Palace, with one game remaining in the 2021-22 season.

Was sacked as Everton manager on 23 January after 10 games without a win. The result saw the club knocked out in the third round of the FA Cup and League Cup, and left the Merseysiders in second bottom of the Premier League table.

Now, Lampard is back at Chelsea as a temporary coach. Chelsea announced he would be interim coach of the Blues until the end of the season after the club sacked Graham Potter.

Announced As Interim Coach of Chelsea

Chelsea announced that Frank Lampard will be the interim coach of the Blues until the end of the season. This decision was taken after the club sacked Graham Potter on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

Potter’s dismissal came the day after Chelsea lost 0-2 to Aston Villa in Week 29 of the Premier League on Saturday, following the poor results his team had left in 11th place in the Premier League standings.

After parting ways with the England coach, the match against Liverpool at home in a postponed match on Tuesday local time, was handled by assistant coach Bruno Saltor. The result of the duel ended in a goalless draw.

Frank Lampard appeared to be present at the Stamford Bridge stadium during the Chelsea vs Liverpool match in the postponed Premier League match. The Blues legend was caught on camera while watching the duel between the two teams taking place.

His appointment as caretaker coach of Chelsea saw Lampard return to Stamford Bridge, where he enjoyed a distinguished playing career with the Blues. He won the Premier League three times and the Champions League. He was in charge of the club for 84 matches, including taking the team to the FA Cup final

The club owners, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, explained their reasons for recruiting Lampard as interim coach.
