Alfeandra Dewangga Competes in the U-22 National Team for the 2023 SEA Games, Ready to Play in Any Position

Reportase.one, JakartaAlfeandra Dewangga admits that he is ready to compete with the defenders to win a place in the main squad for the U-22 national team at the 2023 SEA Games. He admits that he will not underestimate young players and will continue to try to compete fairly.

“For competition at the back, we compete in a healthy manner. Show the coach what we have and work hard while at the club. That’s all,” he said in a press conference after the second leg match against Lebanon at the Gelora Bung Main Stadium Karno (SUGBK), Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, April 16 2023.

Dewangga was one of the centre-backs summoned by coach Indra Sjafri to attend the training camp for the Indonesian U-22 national team ahead of the 2023 SEA Games. Currently, there are a total of five centre-backs who have joined the provisional squad for the Indonesian U-22 national team. The five consisted of Dewangga, Rizky Ridho, Komang Teguh Trisnanda, Muhammad Akbar Arjunsyah, and Muhammad Ferarri.

In the match against Lebanon, Dewangga played in two positions. In the first half, he played as a central defender, then in the second half his role changed to a central midfielder.

Dewangga considers the ability to play in multiple positions to be an advantage compared to other defenders. He didn’t mind it and instead said players must be ready to play in any position. “As a player, I want the coach to put me in a position, I have to always be ready for whatever it is. We have to be able to adapt quickly to that position,” said the player from the PSIS Semarang club.

Despite winning, Dewangga said that there were still many mistakes made by the players and needed to be corrected before the 2023 SEA Games started. The problem of passing, passing, and coordination between the lines of play for the U-22 national team still needs improvement.

“We were given the win, but from this result we still made a lot of small and big mistakes, for example our passing and ball control were lacking,” he said. “Coordination between the front, mid and rear lines is still lacking. We will fix that until the day before SEA Games later,” Dewangga added.
