Reportase.one, Labuan Bajo – Just like previous international events, PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN also implemented an electricity scheme without flicker or Zero Down Time (ZDT) through layered supply at the 42nd ASEAN Summit.
This scheme is specifically applied to priority venues such as the Meruorah Komodo Hotel, Ayana Resort, Laprima Hotel, Sudamala Resort Komodo, Plataran Komodo Hotel, Mice Tanamori, Komodo Airport, Sylvia Hotel, Puncak Waringin, media center and other supporting facilities.
To secure electricity supply at priority venues, PLN has prepared 70 units of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), 35 units of mobile substations, 31 units of generators, and 93 units of operational vehicles to ensure reliability of supply during the Summit. Behind it all, more than 600 field officers were also deployed.
Previously, the Main Director of PT PLN Darmawan Prasodjo checked in the field and immediately confirmed the reliability of electricity at all locations where the ASEAN Summit (KTT) was held and Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) for charging delegate vehicles.
The check was carried out in Labuan Bajo. “This event will be the face and pride of the Indonesian nation. So, I and the Board of Directors will be present directly on the field,” he said.
He has checked the main venue and SPKLU to ensure that all electrical infrastructure to support the ASEAN Summit is 100 percent ready to use. He checked all electrical infrastructure, starting from the electricity network and substations, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), SPKLU, to the rooms that will be used by Heads of State.
The presence of SPKLU at the ASEAN Summit is very important, because the mobilization of all delegations, security and operations will use electric vehicles. PLN has provided 108 SPKLUs to meet the demand for electric power for 271 vehicles.
“All SPKLUs are ready. For operations, we will continue to coordinate, especially with Paspampres in arranging the implementation of charging electric vehicles,” said Darmawan.

All SPKLUs are ready. For its operations, PLN will continue to coordinate, especially with Paspampres in regulating the implementation of charging electric vehicles.
The ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo will be supplied by the Flores system with electrical power capable of 105.38 megawatts (MW) and a predicted peak load during the event of 89.93 MW, so that the power reserve is very sufficient.
Darmawan added, PLN also ensured the readiness of supporting infrastructure such as Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) to support the needs of 282 units of delegation and security electric vehicles, as well as 89 units of operational vehicles.
PLN ensures that the availability of SPKLU is sufficient to meet the demand for electric vehicles during the ASEAN Summit. There are 7 Ultra Fast Charging SPKLU units at the West Manggarai Regent’s Office, 1 Fast Charging SPKLU unit in Ujung Village, and 100 Home Charging spread across seven strategic locations
Apart from that, Darmawan also explained that the strengthening of the electricity system that PLN had prepared in Labuan Bajo was more than usual. Starting from the addition of power reserves to the interconnection system.
As one of the Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP), Labuan Bajo is one of the areas that is the focus of PLN, so the infrastructure is being prepared from now on. “In the future, we are optimistic that there will be more international events here and that Labuan Bajo will increasingly become a favorite destination for tourists who will also encourage economic growth in NTT and even nationally,” said Darmawan.
