Reportase.one, Jakarta – The Bandung Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded at least ten incidents of flooding, six landslides, and a house collapsing after heavy rains flushed the area around Bandung Regency from the afternoon to morning, 22-23 March 2023, followed by the overflow of the Citarum River and several children the river.
The embankment broke on Thursday, 23 March 2023 at 05.00 WIB, causing damage to a house that collapsed in Cilame Village, Kutawaringin District. The back of another resident’s house was also damaged.
Floods and strong winds hit the Permata Indah Ring Complex and Warung Lobak housing complex. One housing unit was reported to have collapsed, while the flood height in settlements ranged from 20-160 centimeters. Meanwhile in Bojongsoang District, floods occurred in the Cijagra area of around 30-40 centimeters and the water level in Tegalluar was around 20-30 centimeters.
The overflow of the river also caused flooding in Tanggulun Village, Ibun District, as high as 20-40 centimeters. Likewise in Kaum Village, Dayeuh Kolot District. Meanwhile in Cangkudu Village, Rancamulya Village, Pamengpeuk District, the water level reached 120 centimeters.
Floods also hit the center of Bandung Regency in Soreang with a height of 10-80 centimeters. Floods in Majalaya District, which varied by 40-100 centimeters, affected 1,004 households. Meanwhile in Baleendah District, the flood height in residential areas is around 20 centimeters.
In addition to flooding, Bandung Regency BPBD officers recorded reports of landslides scattered in various places. In the Official Village of Residence, Kertasari District, a landslide hit two residents’ housing units, closing and eroding part of the road’s shoulder.
The landslide in Muara Pasir Kujang Village, Buninagara Village, Kutawaringin District, hit a resident’s house and closed residential road access. In addition to coordinating with local officials, BPBD provided logistical assistance, efforts to clean roads with water spray by the fire department. Residents work together to clean up the remnants of floods and landslides.
